In Indonesia, Tempeh is a general staple food, just like potatoes and corn. Indonesian has been consumed Tempeh in generations. Moreover, Tempeh is also cheap and easily found everywhere in Indonesia (soytempeh, 2015).

It is originated from Java, Indonesia, made from fermented soy beans. In addition, Tempeh also it involves the natural culturing and composed fermentation that sticks soybeans into a cake form, resembling to a very firm vegetarian patties (Wikipedia, 2015). Futhermore, Tempeh which made of whole beans makes it more higher content in protein,dietary fiber, and vitamins and it becomes popular worldwide in vegetarian cuisine as meat complement (Wikipedia, 2015).

tempe murni | tempeh made in plastic wrap without any additives such as grated raw papaya (pure soybean cake) |
tempe oncom (also onchom) | made from peanut press cake, orange in color, with Neurospora sitophila |
